Here's an update on what is going on with us:

Elizabeth had her dance recital and she was adorable! Since she is the smallest in her class she ended up being front and center. I'm not sure how much she learned, but she sure looked cute!

It rained almost every day in May so we were feeling very soggy when the school year ended. Elizabeth loved singing at the preschool graduation! Jason ended up testing into the gifted and
talented program for the next school year so we hope it will be a good fit for him and he will be more challenged. He actually wasn't there for the last few days of school because we left on a cruise.
Jeff and I celebrated our ten year wedding anniversary at the end of May. He surprised me by planning a Caribbean cruise. He was sure to chose a cruise line that had a lot for the kids to do and we all had a blast! We went to a beach resort in Cozumel, Mexico, saw stingrays and snorkeled in Grand Cayman, and went to another beach resort in Falmouth, Jamaica. We had 3 days on the boat at sea and I thought we would get board, but it ended up being like a vacation after the vacation. The kids really enjoyed going to kids club and Jeff and I just got to catch up with each other.

A few days before we left on our cruise we got to see our baby! The ultrasound tech and the doctor both seemed shocked that we didn't want to find out the gender of our baby, but we held to our decision and stayed team green. We got a video, but since I couldn't figure out how to get it onto our computer I got creative and narrated it myself. Now I'm 25 weeks or 5.5 months and the baby still looks great! Jeff has felt it kick, but the kids are too impatient to wait to feel it yet.

Elizabeth was so excited that this year she could finally join her brother at vacation bible school at Grandma and Grandpa's church and she charmed everyone there! The kids loved learning the new songs and dances that went along with them. They did tons of crafts and most importantly learned about God. VBS is only in the morning so we had afternoons to spend with family and had lots of fun like swimming and playing on the playground, but the kids really loved going to the DoSeum that had recently opened. Parking was a bit difficult, but there was so many fun things that we didn't get to do everything. We will have to go back again some time!

With getting ready for this baby I have been looking back quite a bit. We have looked back at the baby books, gotten out newborn clothes for both genders and taken out as many of the toys and supplies as I can get Jeff to take down from the attic. Looking back really shows me how Jason and Elizabeth are growing up so much! Jason has really taken to reading, I got him a space book to look at on our cruise and before the week was through he had devoured the whole book and this was not a small book! Since then I got him his first chapter book and his second and third and started on his fourth. He has said to me "I love the magic of reading!" So adorable!

We are scheduled to do swim lessons next week, but in the past month just playing around in the pool Jason has figured out how to swim well. He still likes to have someone close by just in case, but he can swim the full length of our pool just fine! I think working on snorkeling before our cruise really helped him learn what he should do. Elizabeth was doing well at the end of last summer, but seems to have forgotten how to regulate her breathing. Hopefully the lessons will help her remember.

We have a ton more coming up this summer so I will be sure to be more attentive to the blog, but I think that's enough for now.

I was feeling a little off this week and decided to take a pregnancy test on Wednesday. I had told Jeff I was trying to hold off until the weekend, but I don't have any patience. While he was taking his shower I tested and of course I didn't have a cute way to tell him so I just said, "guess what? I'm pregnant!" It has been a couple of days, but I'm not sure the news has sunk in yet. Of course I am very nervous and this time really won't be telling anyone until after we are through the first trimester.

2/5/15
It's been about a little over a week since I found out I'm expecting and I'll admit it, I'm a bit obsessed! With Jason I still had a job to do, with Elizabeth I had a little one that needed pretty constant attention, but now the kids can and do entertain themselves often that I have plenty of time to think and look at baby stuff! I don't even have that much to research this time. The only thing we really need is a new infant seat, although I can think of a few new things I would like. I really need to get into a good book or project. Maybe I will finally put together that Disney World scrapbook I've been meaning to work on!

2/27/15
I was supposed to go to the doctor for my first check a few days ago, but we had some ice the night before so I postponed the appointment until today. Jeff got to join Elizabeth on our trip to Waco to see the Doctor. The doctor came in and got right down to dating the pregnancy. First thing we saw a beautiful heartbeat. The doctor measured everything and gave me a due date of October 11, 2015 which is right on with my ovulation tracking. We even got to faintly hear the heartbeat! Everything was right on track and although I know there are no guarantees I'm happy we made it past when my last miscarriage. We got a photo of the baby, but honestly it looks more like a blob so you will just have to trust me that there is a baby in there. I have another appointment in about a month and I'm already counting down the days until then.
Yesterday I had another doctor appointment. I had no reason to be nervous, but I still was. It is just the beginning of worrying about this baby that I am sure will continue far beyond when it is born, grows up and moves out. I was thrilled that the doctor was able to find the heartbeat very quickly. I really haven't felt like eating much and when I do I can't eat very much so the doctor did notice I had lost about 7 pounds. He assured me that my appetite would come back soon enough. After my appointment I was leaving the office I saw a friend from town. I'm a terrible liar so she ended up being the first person I have told, but since hearing the heartbeat I am feeling a little more secure. Today I worked on our parents announcement and getting ready to send it to my parents later this week.

3/29/15
I'm 12 weeks today and we decided that this would be the time we would tell the kids. We wanted them to know before we told the rest of our family and friends. We went up to the Fort Worth area to get something for the camper and went out to a late lunch/ early dinner. We decided to tell the kids then that right before Halloween they would be getting a baby brother or sister. Jason wanted to know if it would come on October 30th then, I told him no it would be around October 11, but babies come when God wants them to so we don't know the exact date. Elizabeth votes for a baby sister and Jason is hoping for a brother so we will see who the little tie breaker is.

4/8/17
This past weekend was Easter and I planned a cute reveal for our families. I send off an egg to my parents earlier in the week and we traveled down to San Antonio to be with Jeff's family for Easter weekend. We had hoped to leave on Thursday and spend a long weekend down there, but Jason had a snow make up day on Friday. We did make it down there for dinner on Friday night. During dinner the discussion turned to how the kids are growing up and now that their cousin is 18 months, Grandma said something like there won't be any more babies in the house. Jason piped in with there will be one in October, on October 11th! Well I can't keep a straight face so we told them at that time, but it was sweet that Jason is anticipating his new brother or sister. So Easter morning they opened the egg and were still excited to see the official reveal. My family called later in the morning and were so happy for us. We will be sharing with everyone soon!

I can't believe our beautiful girl is 4! I keep looking at her and wondering where my baby went. She has become such a sweet smart girl. She is always thinking of other people for example we took Elizabeth out to lunch while Jason was in school one day. We took her to "the peanut restaurant", one of her favorites. At one point during the meal she stopped and said I think if Jason were here he would really like these peanuts. Which is a perfect example of how Elizabeth is always thinking of others.

Elizabeth is still our little cuddle bug who adores her Daddy. She is the first to run up to him when he comes home in the afternoon. If you are sitting she wants to be on your lap. She got a gift from one of her preschool friends and needed to run over to give her a hug. Elizabeth loves picking flowers and everything girly. She wears dresses and skirts as often as I let her. She loves playing with her Little Ponies, and has recently gotten very interested in mothering her baby dolls and stuffed animals.

Last weekend we had the kids joint birthday party at the local bounce place. They had a blast seeing their friends and bouncing the morning away!
He has become such a sweet, smart, sensitive boy who we are so blessed to watch grow. Jeff stayed a bit later in the morning so he could see the birthday boy wake up and open his first gift. He loved his helicopter and wanted to keep playing with it, but it was time for Jason to head off to school.
I surprised Jason by bringing him McDonald's for lunch at school and shortly after I picked Jason up from school Jeff came home so we could start opening Jason's pile of gifts. Jason couldn't decide if he wanted to play with his new toys or see what other packages held.
I can't believe he has been in kindergarten for 100 days already! To celebrate each student made a hat with 100 things on it. Jason picked popcorn so he helping me count out 100 pieces and I hot glued them to an extra hat for him. Today I went to visit him at school to see him sing songs about 100 and go on a parade through the halls.
I went outside to grill steaks for dinner and passed by the pool on the way there. I noticed our pool cleaner, the Polaris, was full of leaves and needed to be emptied. So after I put the steaks on the grill I went to do just that. Before I got down I checked the pocket I normally kept my phone in, wouldn't want that to fall in, and it was empty. All the better, I must have set it down inside! So I leaned down to get the cord and heard a plunk of something falling in. At first I thought A piece of the Polaris had come apart, but looked down to see a small rectangle floating to the bottom of the pool. Oh no, my phone!!! I had slipped it into the pocket of my hoodie and forgotten about it. I stripped down and jumped in the freezing cold water. Oh boy was it cold!!! Thank goodness our yard has a large fence so I didn't give the neighbors a show! I went under the water and grabbed my phone and got out as fast as I could.

I ran inside, leaving my clothes out by the pool and yelled to Jeff to turn on a hot shower. He wasn't expecting that! The kids were so surprised and kept asking questions, but all I could think about was getting warm in the shower. At first glance it had looked like my phone had been protected by it's case, but on further investigations it might have some issues so it is chilling in a container of rice. Jeff took care of grilling the steaks and bringing in my clothes while I warmed up. Taking a dip was not something I had planned for the beginning of January!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02041765239442886356noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2556363223259733530.post-34787476335922618162015-01-08T10:21:00.004-08:002015-01-08T10:23:57.104-08:00There may not be snow in San Antonio...... but it's a Texas Christmas to me! So go the words from George Straits's song When It's Christmastime in Texas." It isn't very well known so Jason surprises people when he starts singing it. He has been very into singing lately and maybe if I'm ambitious we can try to learn to play the piano together as a summer project.

With Christmas being two weeks past I figure I better give a wrap up before I forget everything! We spent a couple days of Jason's holiday break at home so Jeff could work more. On one of those days we headed up to Dallas to one of the really nice malls they have up there. We heard Santa tell a story and saw puppet shows featuring Scrooge and a Toy Maker, but the best part was going to visit the trains. To benefit Ronald McDonald House they have displayed all these toy trains with track running all around the large store. Jason marveled at all the trains and I liked looking at the reproductions of landmarks from across the country. Elizabeth just liked being able to wander around.

A couple days before Christmas we packed the Excursion full and headed down to San Antonio to see family. Aunt Karen arrived from Virginia and Cousins Emmett, Sarah, Rachel and Riley came down. Jason was sleeping in the same room as Jeff and I on Christmas Eve and the sweetest thing happened, he just started giggling in his sleep. It was so cute! Then Christmas morning was there before we knew it! Elizabeth keeps changing her mind about what her favorite gift was, but I think for Jason it was his helicopter! My favorite moment of the morning was when Jeff told me to guess what was in a rather large gift. I shook it and guessed maybe shoes, but that didn't feel right. I unwrapped it and inside was another wrapped box, inside that was a small gift bag and inside that was a little box. Jeff had gotten me diamond earrings and a big surprise!
One evening we got to leave Jason and Elizabeth with the grandparents while Michelle, Karen, Jeff and I went out for a bit. We went out to dinner and then to Michelle's house to play a very fun game Jeff had received for Christmas, Red Dragon Inn. We slept over and it was glorious to get a chance to sleep in for a bit. The next day Jeff, Michelle, Grandma and Karen took the kids out on a bike ride to see the aqueduct, which they really enjoyed. Sadly that was the last nice day for a while. We took Jason to play laser tag again and he really loved it. Grandpa took Elizabeth out to Build a Bear and she built one of her My Little Ponies, Princess Celestia, who sang "Let it Go" from Frozen. We were happy to see the sun come out on our last day there! Jeff finally got to go Frisbee Golfing right before we left.

It seems like we have been going non-stop since Thanksgiving was over! Between Christmas shopping (mostly done) and parties it has felt like we have been going like crazy! Just this past weekend I had a party on Friday night, one on Saturday night and one Sunday afternoon. You throw in birthday parties one of the kids are attending, Christmas pageants and the normal things like school and Awanas and I will be happy for a break when the kids get out of school.

One thing I wish we didn't have to miss was Jason's school Christmas show. Jason has had a little cold with a runny nose and cough, but this morning he complained about an upset stomach so we kept him home. By mid-morning he was up and running around so I think it was just all the nose junk going into his tummy and hopefully he will be all the way better by tomorrow morning. Unfortunately the rule is that they have to be better for 24 hours before going to school and since I hope other parents would keep their sick kids home, Jason will not be at tonight's performance.

It really does feel like we will be getting a break as soon as the kids do. I will have to find things for us to do together during their school breaks. Before we head down to San Antonio I think we will do some Christmassy things like bake cookies and watch Christmas movies. The question is what are we going to do for the week after Christmas when we are back home. I know from experience, if we don't have outings planned the kids will go stir crazy. Of course they will have new fun toys to play with and that will entertain them for a bit, but not for long enough that they won't start bickering. So hopefully I will have some fun and interesting things to post about in the new year, but if I don't post before then we wish you a very Merry Christmas!

Hugging brother goodbye before school

I have been really bad about picking up my camera this month. I only have about 10 photos in my November folder where most months by this time I have close to 100. I really have no explanation for this except laziness. I plan to correct this next week while the kids are home all week and we with family for Thanksgiving

Watching the bus go

At the beginning of the month Jeff was being considered for a move within the company. For a few different reasons we thought we would probably be moving near Austin. We did lots of yard work and home repairs in preparation for selling the house. I was excited to live in a more metropolitan area with more opportunities for me and the kids. Jeff would also get to network better in the company and get to show more people what he could do, but alas it was not meant to be. As always we remember that our lives are in God's hands and he is leading us in the best way for our family. Of course there are great things about staying also. We love Elizabeth's preschool and she is loving her ballet class and we can't wait for their recital in the spring. Jason has been blossoming in Kindergarten and Awanas. He even memorized all of the books of the New Testament in one week! I had also planned out how we were going to combine the kids birthday parties at a local bounce house place towards the end of February or beginning of March

Lastly, Jason shares. Jason got a terrible stomach bug last Tuesday that zapped his energy for most of the rest of the week. As often happens, we all ended up with it, Jeff and Elizabeth had it on Monday and I had it on this Tuesday. We are all slowly recovering and hope to feel 100% soon.

I'm sorry I haven't updated much lately, but hopefully you will be appeased by the photos I have included from the kids Thanksgiving feasts

This one was pretty but too simple I think:

This one we did for church and it was pretty for an hour or so, but like her Mommy's hair, Elizabeth's hair doesn't like to hold curls

I think this one is my favorite so far. We did it using curl formers in her pony tail and then pinned up the curls. It stayed all through the afternoon, even playing outside as you might have seen in Wednesday's post

We had an exciting Columbus Day weekend. As a side note: in Canada they celebrate Thanksgiving during that weekend and the best part it is socially acceptable to start decorating for Christmas right afterwards! For us in the US it was only a 3 day weekend, but it was kind of special for some of our family members. Karen, Jeff's oldest sister who lives in Virginia, asked us to join her in going down to San Antonio. When we agreed we didn't know we would also be meeting her boyfriend! Jeff's cousin's baby was also having her early first birthday celebration down there.
On Friday the kids had a dentist appointment in Waco so we all decided to head south a little early. The kids teeth looked great and they were both so brave. I can't believe that Jason is almost at the age where we are looking out for wiggly teeth! We continued south and stopped at the San Marcos Outlets. At the beginning of the month we headed up to Dallas to get the kids new shoes. By the time we got around to looking at shoes Jason was done! Elizabeth got light up princess shoes, but we couldn't reward Jason's poor behavior. Fast forward to Friday and Jason was so excited to find Darth Vader shoes that light up both blue and red! After a little lunch we finished our drive down to San Antonio. Grandpa had been watching lot of online classes with new Frisbee Golfing techniques so Jeff had to take him to try them out.
Saturday started with a trip to the doughnut shop and the kids really loved the free samples! The rest of Saturday was filled with games and getting to know John, Karen's Boyfriend. The kids had a blast playing with their cousins and going to the park with Grandma!

Going to a small church gives a great sense of community, but the kids really like going to their Grandparents' church since they provide a wonderful Sunday school. That afternoon we had cake and finished opening baby Riley's gifts. We have found that with little ones it is much nicer to spread out the gift giving because they want to play with the new toy and get overwhelmed opening too many things at once. That afternoon Karen took John on a tour of San Antonio Missions and the River walk. The Grandparents offered to watch the kids so Jeff and I went to a movie and dinner. We are so lucky that our kids normally behave better for others then they do for us. Later that night we got a very exciting text: Karen and John were engaged!
Monday morning we were all excited to discuss the engagement over pancakes at Magnolia Pancake House (I recommend the Munchener Apfel Pfannekuchen if you are ever in San Antonio!) After taking a few photos, playing a game, and packing up we decided to go and play laser tag. Elizabeth was a little too small and hung out with Grandpa, but Jason was so excited to play. Even a week later he is recounting who got whom. Before we knew it we had to start heading home. What an exciting whirlwind of a weekend!

So a few months ago I heard a dripping late at night. Jeff thought it was the hot water heater with a leak, but I thought it was something from the air conditioner. All we knew was the next morning our floor was soaked. I was right, apparently the condensation line from the air conditioner was clogged. The plumber was able to fix that easily enough, but the floors would need a lot of work.

Due to where the leak was the would have to replace just about all the wood laminate in our house. I guess I didn't realize what a big ordeal this would be. First we had to get the flooring in which ended up taking about a month. Then when we finally got it in and scheduled the people to install it they ripped everything out of the bedroom and realized they didn't have enough flooring. They did the bedroom, but didn't start on the living room until they had enough flooring to finish it. About 2 weeks later they had everything and came back to finish up. It took the flooring people twice as long as it was supposed to, but the floor is in now.

We like the way the new floors look for the most part, but there are issues that still need to be fixed, like the joint between our master bedroom and bathroom.
There is yet another promise that this will be fixed and hopefully it will be soon.

Jason's teacher takes all of her car riders to their parent's car. Normally Jason is really excited to point out our car to his teacher. As they walked over to our car this Tuesday I noticed Jason holding hands with a little girl as they walked over. It was pretty adorable! While Jason's teacher was helping him in the car she told me that he explained the hand holding so that they didn't get smooshed by a car, but the little girl whispered it was because they kind of like each other...Oh boy! I asked if that was Bailey, who we had heard a bit about, but it wasn't. In fact he couldn't tell me what her name was at all, maybe Riley. I knew our guy was cute, but I didn't expect him to start attracting young ladies quite this early.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02041765239442886356noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2556363223259733530.post-42224949457344194532014-09-02T19:19:00.002-07:002014-09-02T19:19:40.753-07:00Birthday weekend and Elizabeth's big day
When people ask for an interesting fact about me I almost always tell them about Jeff and I sharing a birthday. This year it happened to fall on Labor day weekend and we were down visiting Jeff's family in San Antonio. We were joined by his cousin's family and Great Grandma. We went Frisbee golfing and the kids played on the playground in the morning and Jeff and I went out on a date in the evening. We love taking advantage of our grandparent babysitters! The next day we all headed over to the water park for one last summer splash around.

Elizabeth had a huge day after we came home. It was her first day of preschool and ballet lessons. I'm glad she is so photogenic because as soon as we went outside to do first day pictures I got a call that Jason had gotten sick at school and we needed to pick him up. I guess I will need to wait a few days for that kid free time. There was such a difference between the two kids. Elizabeth was just fine with me leaving her at preschool and didn't even seem to think twice about it. I look back and remember Jason being so much more tentative with this transition. I think in part it is because for the last two years she saw big brother going off to preschool and has come to expect and really wish she could go. She did great her first day, but I don't think she slept enough, especially considering what else was going on that afternoon.

When we got home from picking her up Elizabeth was excited to see that Grandma, Grandpa, and Great Grandma had arrived. She was even more excited about going to ballet class. Elizabeth has been talking about ballet for months now and has been counting down the days until she could start. Today was her big day and she did wonderfully!

Jason has been in school for a week now and loves it! He comes home every day telling us how amazing his day was. The first day I walked him in and picked him up, but after that we allowed him to ride the bus. He was so excited! I must say I was a little nervous letting him go ride the bus, but it made me feel so much better to find that our bus driver is a lady from our small church.

Toward the end of the summer Jason was getting to be very difficult. It didn't seem like we could go very long without him disobeying or fighting with his sister. I was pretty concerned that with all the activity of school and no rest time he would be worse then ever, but I was happily surprised. Jason has been in wonderful spirits when he returns from school. I think by the end of the summer he was getting bored and had not been challenged enough. I'll have to remember that next summer.

Of course while Jason was off at school Elizabeth needed something to entertain her. Lately she has been interested in paining, especially with water colors. She loves to paint rainbows, herself and the letters of her name.
Jason started Kindergarten today! I can't believe he is so grown up. He was excited to go and wondered what they would do during recess. He said he wasn't nervous at all. Most days he is going to ride on the school bus, but today I dropped him off and got to walk him to his classroom. He is such a smart, sensitive guy that I know he will do great!

He came home telling us what a great time he had that he liked getting to play on the playground, but not that the kindergarteners aren't allowed on the swirly slide (we tried to get more of an explanation, but he could only tell us that he would be in trouble) He was really excited that they watched a Magic School Bus episode about space and was thrilled to see us at the end of the day. I can't believe my boy is growing up so fast!
Where ever we go she seems to find loose change. There are goldmines like my parents house where there haven't been many kids by to dig around for coins and there are random places like in the back of our car after Jeff has just vacuumed. She gets so excited when she finds the coins too. I think we will have to start working on identifying them since she calls them all pennies, even this one:

We thought that Jason would be the first to be interested in monetary gain so we got him a piggy bank last Christmas. He is interested in the money, which is why he so kindly offers to keep Elizabeth's change safe in his piggy bank. Little swindler! And a piggy bank is going on Elizabeth's Christmas wish list.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02041765239442886356noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2556363223259733530.post-37603964319050972682014-08-11T17:34:00.002-07:002014-08-11T17:34:41.266-07:00swimming in the summer time! The kids were so excited to start swim lessons a few weeks ago. This was Jason's third year and Elizabeth's first and we were a little worried that Jason wasn't getting that close to swimming, or so we thought. We have been taking lessons at the YMCA in a town about 45 minutes away. They have three levels and for the past two years Jason had been at the first levels. This year I was debating on if he was ready to move up, but he was put into the next class up and seemed at about the same point as his classmates. Elizabeth has been sitting on the sidelines for the past two years and was thrilled to get to join in this year. It also made it easier for me because I didn't have to try to entertain her while keeping her out of the pool.

They both did pretty well listening to their instructors. They worked on freestyle and froggy (breast stroke) swimming. Elizabeth's favorite part of the class was at the end when her instructor got out a few pool toys and let the kids throw them and swim for them on the shallow area of the steps.

Jason's instructor started the class working on strokes with each kid then as the days progressed she worked on getting them to work more and more on jumping in and swimming (or trying to swim) to her. Most of the time Jason's swimming looked pretty frantic, but by the end he was starting to get it down a bit. His form needs a lot of work, but he is able to get his head out of water to take a breath which is a huge improvement.

At home we practice with them in our pool, but have their continue to wear their lifejackets when we are playing to be sure they are safe.

We had a wonderful time with family and were so happy to meet baby Abigail! There were some less then amazing parts of the week (see my last post) but we made the best of our trip. We even got to meet up with friends with kids Elizabeth's age that I knew from an online group. I'm so glad we got a chance to visit!

6/21
We just got home from our week at VBS in San Antonio and I was feeling a bit off. I knew I wanted to wait until I was home with Jeff to take a pregnancy test, but I was trying not to get my hopes up. It was positive and we are so excited to be expecting again! I hope it wasn't too much of a giveaway that I asked for area OBGYNs. Hopefully I won't have to stretch the truth too often because I am awful at lying. Either way anyone who sees me in the next few months may guess since they say you show sooner with each subsequent pregnancy.

6/23
I checked with the insurance and the most recommended OB was on it so I went ahead and scheduled my first appointment with him for July 7th. Now to just be patient for the next two weeks. Thank goodness the nausea isn't too bad. I didn't have any with Jason, but did a little bit like this with Elizabeth. I wonder if that means the baby is a girl. Either way we will have to wait until the end of February to find out since I promised Jeff we would be team green this time. UH that is going to be so hard!

7/7
I met with the OBGYN who had been recommended by many friends today and really like him. It is a bit of a drive, but his office is beautiful and he seems really understanding. Today I am supposed to be 6 weeks 3 days, but when we had an ultrasound it was showing that the baby was only 5 weeks 1 day. The doctor said it was probably because I had just come off of birth control pills and I ovulated later than normal. I am still pretty nervous.

A little back story: In January 2008 we were trying for our first child and found out we were pregnant! I went in for an appointment and ultrasound when I should have been 8 weeks and it only showed that I was 6 weeks. A day later I started bleeding, I had a miscarriage. A year later we held our new baby Jason in our arms and knew God had a plan. We are praying for this baby and trying to stay calm. For right now I know I am pregnant and I have another doctor appointment with an ultrasound in 2 weeks to check on the baby's progress.

7/14
We are visiting my family in Virginia and decided there was no better way to tell them then in person. I know it is early, but after lots and lots of thought we decided that we would want our family's support if something happened to the baby. We started by telling the kids after Elizabeth woke up from her nap. I didn't know how much the kids would really get, but after just telling them we would be having another baby Jason asked if he would be able to come to the hospital with us! Jeff and I put them in big brother/ big sister shirts and let them go downstairs and spill to Grandma and Grandpa.

That evening we were meeting with Uncle Kevin, Aunt Rachel, Abigail, and Uncle Brian. We started with a tour of Kevin and Rachel's house. Aunt Rachel noticed the shirt right away, but both Uncles needed a few hints to take note. (How shocking, the guys don't pay as much attention to kids clothes as Aunts and Grandmas do) Everyone was so happy for us and completely understood when we asked them to keep it to themselves until September.

7/16
Today has not been such a great day. I really wanted to sleep in, but the kids wanted me up, then Elizabeth had a tantrum about what I picked for her to wear. When I was finally able to go to the bathroom I noticed some light brown spotting. This wasn't cause for panic, but I was concerned. There is nothing I can really do, so I went on with my day and met with some moms with kids about Elizabeth's age at a local playground. That evening after giving the kids a bath I discovered red bleeding. I now realized I was probably having a miscarriage.

7/22
After bleeding most of the week I would have been shocked if the doctor found a baby still growing in the ultrasound scheduled for today. I was so sure that I didn't even really cry when he told me he didn't find anything. I put away the big sibling shirts and the outfit I had foolishly bought the baby too early (don't tell Jeff!)

I didn't write this all out to make anyone feel guilty for having healthy pregnancies or babies. I am truly happy for anyone blessed with children and I know how blessed I am to have our two wonderful kids. In some ways I can't even explain why I needed to tell my story. I just feel like miscarriage is an issue that is always kept quiet and is almost shameful. Just like exposure to breastfeeding has made it a more accepted thing, I feel that talking about miscarriages and the sorrow they can bring will help healing for me and anyone else that has gone through one. This baby was hoped for and wanted and I was heartbroken when I figured out what was going on. As I told the OB I hope I get to see him again soon, but God is the only one who knows our future and our lives are in his hands.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02041765239442886356noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2556363223259733530.post-87976183603056386672014-07-09T11:30:00.000-07:002014-07-09T11:30:15.628-07:00Wordless Wednesday
